Question fibre??

I think I need to get some fibre replacement into my diet (even though I drink plenty of water) There are different brands out there, but some are made with fruits and sugar (BAD!!) I have brought some sugar-free metamucil but don't want to rock the boat!! What do you advise?

I've been using the sugar free metamucil since I started this WOE. I take my vitamins with a glass of metamucil either right before or right after breakfast. Works 4 me.

I use NOW brand Whole Psyllium Husks. You can pick it up at most health food stores or vitamin shops.

This one is 7.4g per serving and I do a double-dose mixed with 8-12 ounces of Diet V8 Tropical Splash.

Keeps ya regular!!

Plain psyllium husks are basically Metamucil without all the flavoring and artificial sweetener. They have absolutely no flavor. The cheapest place I have found them, believe it or not, is at the GNC nutrition center. I take one heaping tablespoon mixed with a large glass of water every morning before breakfast -- it works!

I mix my psyllium husks with soy milk, or if I'm having a shake, that. You just have ot be careful as they are a very good thickner and you could have pudding on your hands. I've also recently purchased some aloe vera juice which is suposed to help move things along as well as aid in digestional health. It is 0 cal 0 carb.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I might finish of my metamucil then try the plain psyllium husks (from GNC!) as it's better to cut down the AS if possible. The metamucil is actually quite tasty (believe it or not!) so maybe now and then....again THANKS!

Just a note that sugar-free Metamucil might be sugar free but it's NOT carb-free. It contains maltodextrin filler in addition to the artificial sweetener and any flavouring ... and maltodextrin is a high-glycemic carb.

Each teaspoon (5g) serving of sugar-free Metamucil provides 3.4g fiber from psyllium husk powder and 1.6g carbs from maltodextrin.

Just another reason why plain, unadulterated psyllium husks are a better choice

Speaking of psyllium husks (the second time today), I'll give a plug for my Faux Malto Meal -- a tasty way to get your fiber. The healthy saturated fats and minerals are bonuses.
