A similar (and perhaps more safely scheduled) thing you can do is a "refeed." There's some info about it lurking around the forum. I did one myself where I ate low fat, mostly simple sugars for one day above maintenance caloric levels. I gained 8lbs of water and lost it all in a week. It's a good way to remind your body it's not starving and to replenish a hormone called Leptin.
