A 20 point jump in 20 minutes, I believe, is indicative of having consumed sugars (and that the body is reacting, appropriately perhaps, to them).

I would conclude, therefore, that the Pure de-Lite bars have a substantial effect on your blood sugar because of the sugar content.

It is exactly this sugar content that we want, to some extent, to avoid so that the Atkins diet will work.

I would suggest another test that, I suspect, will illustrate quite clearly what's going on: Take your sugar upon waking, eat some scrambled eggs or some low-carb cheese or some meat and take your sugar 20 minutes later.

If it's substantially less that 20 units higher (i.e., if it goes from 117 to 122, for example), than you know those Pure de-Lite bars are not nearly as appropriate for this diet as the food you just ate.

I'd be curious what you find out.
