Have a look at Protein Power by Dr. Michael Eades. There are guidelines for minimum daily protein requirements. For example, my daily minimum requirement is 9 ounces of protein. Not that much at all! Low-carbing is not necessarily high-protein, just adequate protein.

The real beauty of low-carbing is that the way you eat can be about balance. Everyone interprets and practices what balance is for them in different ways. Another bonus is eating real food. Not shakes or bars, endless cans of tuna or high-carb substitutes, but real food.

The Zone Diet by Barry Sears is a little less restrictive in terms of carb consumption, so you may want to look at that too.
