BTW, what kind of items aren't available in the UK?

I probably should have clarified this more - specialised low carb ingredients are quite difficult to come by in the UK. Splenda has only just arrived on these shores - in granular and tablet form only at the moment - liquid Splenda has yet to make it across the pond.

Another example are Atkins products, which are only available through internet sites - the UK-based sites have a fairly limited range, and to buy direct from the US can be expensive postage wise. It's the same with DaVinci Syrups and Walden Farm Products.

I think the only 'low carb' products that have been quite easy to buy in the UK, are sugar-free chocolate and sugar-free jelly. Apart from that, there certainly aren't any low carb products available in the mainstream supermarkets, health food stores etc.

However, all other fresh, natural ingredients are readily available, so no problems there - except an English/American translation may be required for some things - i.e., swede/rutabago, spring onions/scallions etc.
