A very good friend who was a really serious mountain person, always took little tins of sardines. He said they were the best and most nourishing calories weight for weight. He didn't rate sugar or chocolate. On a recent day out with no access to food, I took cooked LC sausages and hard boiled eggs. You could have a little pot of mayo or mustard.
