Cool Naicin versa Lipitor

Just thought I'd post this as general interest for those who have Cholesteral problems,

DH was on Lipitor for about 8 months, as well he has Parkingsons D. He was slowly but surely feeling crappier everyday and was thinking it was the P.D., til he read about others having the same complaint on the net that werer taking Lipitor. He went tothe Doctor and told him he was stopping them, Dr. was concerned, but understood he just could'nt go on feeling so bad and weak. The Dr. said well, you can try Niacin, there has been some studies that show it can be beneficial in lowering Chol. So he has been taking them for 3-4 months, he went back for blood tests, we came home from a few days away, to a messages on our machine saying to make an appt right away Dr. needs to see you about your test.
Well I was so sure his Chol must be off the charts! Went in right away, and the Doctor was stunned at how much his Chol had dropped! He wanted to double check the dosage he was taking and ask him a few questions, for future reference.

In Canada we gage Metric so it may look a little different to the U.S. readers, but he went from 7.3 down to 4.2 which is a markerble drop according to the Doc.

There is a fair bit of info on the net about Niacin, he is taking 2x 500mg. 3x day. It's a bit flushing at first but it goes away.

Like I said just for general info.
Cheers Kathy
