Default Keep It Natural

Please don't let "Net Carbs" daunt you You look at the total carbs on a package, and subtract the dietary fiber. The remaining carbs are what you must count. This forumla, and other pertinent information is found between pages "242-245" in the latest edition of the Atkins book. If you are eating mostly natural foods, all of the information you need is in the Atkins Carbohydrate Gram Counter in the back of the book.

I avoid all of those processed snacks. I eat my three meals, some nuts or other natural things and focus totally on keeping my carbs and my food volume at levels that will allow me to continue effective weight loss. I've been trying to reduce food volume from the beginning; slowly and comfortably, and without trying to eat at maximum allowable levels. On Atkins this has been easy to do.

This is just my opinion, but I think the entire idea of snacking is antithetical to weight loss. We must, in the duration of the weight loss phase of this diet, learn to control our caloric as well as carbohydrate intake. I think the richness and density of the foods we are able to eat should help in allowing us to de-emphasize food, and bring our appetites under control. But this can only be done with practice, and determination to a goal.

Atkins virtually removes the physical cravings for food, leaving us to deal only with the psychological problems. Granted, these can be formidible but they need not overpower us.

I hope this helps

Good Luck!
