No need to wipe out emails, since you can edit them any time. Just make sure you enter a valid email, or else it won't send the confirmation link to the correct address.
If I wipe out all emails myself, many members will be stuck if they don't remember their passwords, as this is the only way to retreive passwords, by entering the email address that matches what you registered with..
