Do you mean 'how do you choose to stop'? When you are at an appearance that you like and feeling well, energized and healthy.

But if you mean, 'when you near your goal weight, do you stop losing?', the answer is probably. Many people who are nearing their goal find that the last 10 - 15 pounds come off EXTREMELY slowly. If you are doing Atkins, you are supposed to follow the various levels including Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance. So that should help you level out. Dr. Atkins says that you should not let yourself gain more than 5 pounds & then go straight back to Induction. If you are following another plan, I am sure they have advice in the books about who to increase your carbs so you stop losing.

You can consult the various ways of measuring what is a good goal weight:

- 100 pounds for the first 5 feet of height + 5 pounds for every inch over that
- BMI in the healthy range (neither too high nor too low)
- close to a size you have been before when you looked good.
- insurance company guidelines (although I think they are TOO LIGHT)
