More info I found...confusing!
Still looking for the effects of ribose (d-ribose) on blood sugar. A few snippets I found that seem to contradict one another:

"Ribose is a “sugar” distinct from glucose. It does not raise blood sugar levels or lead to diabetes."
From http://www.raysahelian.com/ribose.html :
"A small amount of ribose as a pill, liquid or powder may not make much of a difference on blood sugar levels, but a larger amount could."

"Hey I had a similar thing, My Atkins doc gave me a Ribose D supplement to try. He neglected to tell me it was carbon sugar based. Diabetics use it so he thought it might work for me. 1 tsp a day, I gained 3 lbs in a week. The first time I had gained or been out of ketosis since I started."
