Because Vitamin D is fat soluble and has a half life of around 3-4 weeks it really doesn't make a great deal of difference if you take your D3 daily, weekly or even monthly. So if you feel that taking it late at night causes problems (this is not the case generally) and you sometime forget to take it in the morning, you may find it better to take all 7 days worth say on the same morning each week.
It would be perfectly safe, if you intend to take say 3000iu/daily to take 4 x 5000iu +20,000iu once each week averaging just under the 3000iu/d
To average 2000iu/daily it would be fine to take 3 x 5000iu=15000iu/week=2000iu+ once weekly.
The only exception to this would be if you were breast feeding in which case it is necessary to take your D3 DAILY to ensure your breast milk is always vitamin d replete see this paper from Hollis to see the amount needed.

It's also the case that D3 is best absorbed with food. I have a feeling that taking D3 with omega 3 enables them to work together synergistically. If you've taken your magnesium the night before then this also will work with the D3/Omega3 combo.

If you are having sleep problems may I suggest you take MAGNESIUM before you go to bed. 600mg/d of magnesium malate or taurinate should solve the problem. You may need to work up to this amount starting from about 300mg/d for a week then 400mg/daily for 7 days then 500mg etc.
