I've tried meat fasting for 3 or 4 days once in a while to break plateaus. It doesn't seem to be any more or less effective than keeping a very strict eye on the carbs in my experience.

I think it is a very bad idea to use it at the start of a diet. Your body will go through enough shock being deprived of most of its carbs as it is.

Also, as stated above, you won't be able to go to the toilet for days. Its better to keep eating some salad and vegetables.
