This is very interesting to me about the cardiologist's conference. A few years ago my grandfather (in his 80s) decided to go on Atkins and I was appalled!! I was so sure it was going to kick him directly into the grave. He has a long history of serious heart trouble. Numerous bybass surgeries, etc. He lost a lot of weight, didn't gain it back and ... well, he's still driving us all crazy as I write. My Grandmother has diabetes and refused to go near the whole thing. She's just been put in a home after a serious stroke and is not expected to live. Hmmmm..... my prediction... the medical community IS about to make an about face on this... and it's about time.
