Question credible hyperlinks for family doctor

Hi ALL:

I have been hypothyroid for about 26 years, probably more, but that was when i was diagnosed. Have taken Synthroid and gained about 100 lb. over these years. My TSh would be low and the GP would cut my medication and I would promptly gain about 20 lb. within one to two weeks. he always explained the gain by saying that the previous dosage of Synthroid had been keeping my weight artificially low. This happened four times. He refused to give me natural thyroid as he said that the dosage could not be guaranteed. I finally decided I had had enough. I have been on a diet my entire life and yet never lost weight only gained.

In Sept., found a doctor would prescribe Parke Davis Thyroid. Last month I informed my GP that I had been to a different dr. and he had prescribed Thyroid for me - my conscience was getting the better of me - I was worried that he would turf me over this, but he didn't. He said to my surprise that he would check out the web site given to me by the other dr. and see if he would be comfortable prescribing it for me. This was my preference as well, I really don't want two doctors.

I gave him the Thyroid Web ~ Mary Shomon, and suggested he check out Gail's Thyroid Tips for the many hyperlinks.
Gail comes across to me as someone who is rightly frustrated and angry. My Dr. thought the sites were really out there and didn't seem to think they were credible. He may be interested in revisiting a study of other treatment, but I will have to find links where licenced credible doctors talk to doctors. i don't know exactly what bothered him, but as he always seems to do his best, is open minded, never rushes a patient , it may have been some of Gail's comment (nazi doctors) or some of the hyperlinks (T2 and a study on fish?). I also have had some terrible experiences with doctors (mostly specialists) and so fully appreciate where anyone is coming from when they vent their feelings about treatment by doctors. I am not well researched on this topic and don't have a lot of time to come up with sites, so if anyone has compiled a list of these could you share it with me? Sites from major hospitals or universities or articles from endocrinologists might be what it would take . Anything that touts the superiority of natural thyroid over synthetic; the benefits of T3, the unreliability of blood testing after prolonged treatment.

Does anyone know how a person on Synthroid for such a long period of time could grow a thyroid nodule?
Thanks, Melanie
