Thanks for posting this. It sounds like I am with company in my frustration with doctors. I understand they feel obliged to tell people when they see an obvious health risk, but I think a little tact can go a long way. We all know there is prevalent discrimination towards obese people but the worst part is that I see it more often than not in the medical community.

Also, most GPs are NOT qualified to give advice on nutrition or weight loss. I liked the idea that they should at least offer a referral to the patients. That is, at least, more productive than degrading their obese patients and making them feel worse about themselves than they already do.

Also, I think doctors should mention it ONCE and then let the patient come to them if they want to do something. Harping on and on simply doesn't work. In fact, next time I think I might just ask them that. I'll ask them if their constant harping has ever resulted in a patient losing weight. What do you think the answer would be???
