To answer the previous question about insulin: Yes, tasting sugar causes an insulin spike. Basically, whatever you put in your mouth, is reacted upon by your system, whether you swallow or not. And the digestive process also starts in your mouth. eeeww!

Some people even get insulin spikes from tasting artificial sweeteners.

And I would also be concerned that tasting could lead to craving. Be careful.
