Angela...

I think it comes down to a matter of choice. A lot of people give up on low carb in the first week because of carb withdrawal and the cravings they experience. Once you get past the first week, it gets a lot easier but that doesn't mean that you won't still have cravings once in a while. It's been 18 months for me and I still get them sometimes. Once you've been low carbing for a while, I think people tend to forget how hard it was when they first started; how bad the cravings really were. Now, I'm not saying that this is some kind of magic bullet, but if it helps some people why not? Of course, they could probably get very similar results just taking some chromium and l-glutamine on their own, but how many people know about that before they start low carbing (or even in the first week for that matter) and would it be a less expensive alternative? Chromium isn't too bad, but L-glutamine can be pretty pricey. I personally, prefer to follow this WOL with as few supplements as possible (I hate taking pills and often forget them), but others might benefit from a little extra help at the beginning, especially to get their low carb "sea legs" firmly under them. As I said, I don't plan on trying it, but I wouldn't discourage someone from it, either, just because I dislike the commercialism of it all. Is it the supplement that people are objecting to or the idea that the low carb "ideal" is becoming too commercialized?
