Default insulin resistence & cost of lo-carb products

Hello,

I am new to this forum but have attempted (again) CAD. I'm 54 and have severe insulin resistance and have been diagnosed as borderline diabetic I tried to do CAD today and my blood sugar dropped about 2:00 p.m. so I felt ill and knew I needed some carbs. Shortly after I ate a raisin, nut and seed mix and felt good afterwards. I had a burger with cheese (made at home with no bun) and a whole can of green beans, around noon. I'm also taking a medical food product prescribed by an MD to treat my condition. It had 15g's of carbs in it for breakfast. I also had 2 eggs and 3 slices of bacon. Has anyone else had blood sugar dips so bad, and if so what can I do? I'm not on diabetic medication as I am only borderline at this time. My mother died of complications from diabetes and it runs in our family.

Also, my second question is, why are the lo carb products so expensive? It seems we are being taken advantage of by the lo carb industry. I paid $25 for a cheesecake. Can you believe I would do that?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon. I named myself grandma because my daughter is pregnant with triplets. This is her first pregnancy, and my first grandchildren!! Love comes in bundles.

Thanks and blessings to all,

Grandma
