It is very possible, even likely, that occasionally loading up on carbs for a short period of time will help lessen the frequency and duration of stalls and plateaus. There is a growing body of evidence to support not only that this is the case, but to explain the physiological mechanisms for it.

However, the experience you had is no grounds for basing anything on - not yet. If you had eaten half the carbs you normally eat that day you almost certainly would have still lost the same three pounds. Your body simply can't respond to anything that quickly that strongly.

You need to consistently use a pattern for many months and see what that pattern results in for you.
