As Malcolm pointed out, the carbohydrate requirement for human beings is a big fat zero.
Also, carbs drive fat storage independently of caloric intake. Some clinical studies (not epidemiological) have actually shown that carbs cause fat storage even while in negative calorie balance. So where does the weight loss comes from if there is weight loss? You guessed it, from muscle!
