Welcome to the haven of sugar addicts. Most of us have renounced demon sugar, and I am sure that once you go through the educational resources of this site you will take the pledge also.

I was amazed at all the things I DIDN"T know about nutrition and healthy eating. I didn't know that all food is broken down into protein, fats, and sugar. (And most of it is SUGAR)

I was pushed here because I finally decided that I would face up to the fact that I was an Adult Onset Diabetic, and that I would fight it with my Way Of Eating rather than with medicine.

I believe you can lose inches but not weight, especially if you are exercising. Lately my weight has gone up a little, but I am still in those new clothes that I found in the back of the closet that I thought were thrown out years ago.

This started out as a lark for me because I could eat all those things that I had denied myself for years. Juicy steaks, bacon for breakfast, eggs, cheese. I still enjoy all that stuff, but have added cauliflower to my diet, and eggplant, just to name a few extra things.

Do I miss carbs? From time to time I do. But knowing that they were killing me made them a whole lot easier to give up.

Your profile says you are a prime candidate for becoming diabetic. If you can avoid this by changing your diet and shaping up you will avoid the unpleasantness that many 50ish types like me are experiencing right now.

To get the most out of this site you will have to do a lot of reading. Forums, journals, links to other sites. But it is all worth it.

Get on an exercise program, start a journal, and record what you do and what you eat. We'll help you in your own personal Battle of the Bulge.

Because we are basically all here for the same reason we are very free with our advice, praise, and criticism too!!!! Ruth stops by my journal from time to time to tell me what a good job she thinks I am doing, or to berate me for slacking off. I do the same for her.

Get your feet wet, have fun, and make some net acquaintances. We're pretty harmless here, and all we have to lose is our fat, but what we have to gain is the rest of our lives.
