Are u reading the yellow-cover DANDR (the older version)?
In that edition, Dr. Atkins didn't say anything about carbs in shellfish I thought they were a "free-food" (carb-free) when I first started Atkins, too. I almost died of shock when I realized that mussels & oysters have carbs, quite a lot of them in fact I was having them almost everyday
In the DANDR 2002 edition, on page 124. At the bottom (in small print):
*Oysters and mussels are higher in carbs than other shellfish so limit them to four ounces per day.
