Actually, it's NOT hidden calories. Manufacturers are now pre-subtracting the fiber BEFORE the calories are calculated. This is accurate, and how it "should" be done. Hopefully it will soon be done by all manufacturers. Then consumers will be able to look at a food label, and see at a glance how many grams of carbohydrate there are (which contribute calories) .. and this may be further broken down to detail how much sugar .... and then grams of fiber will be listed separately, since they do NOT contibute calories. It's my observation that more and more manufacturers are doing this. Hopefully it will soon be law, and ALL companies will be doing this consistently. Right now it's confusing.
