Hi Tori!

I've taken Glucophage, between 500 and 1000 mg. daily and I can't really say that it helped with the weight loss, but it may have. I tend to lose weight very slowly and I was also low carbing along with taking it. I do know that it's been reported that it does seem to help some people with weight loss and that doctors do sometimes prescribe it for that reason, but taking it by itself without any kind of diet isn't likely to make you loose weight. You can't take Glucophage, eat whatever you like and expect to lose weight. I do know that it lowers insulin resistance by making your cells more sensitive to the insulin that your body produces and in that light, it would seem to be beneficial to weight loss if you have a problem with insulin resistance since we know that excess insulin in your bloodstream will cause you to store fat instead of burning it.
