Chloep...

First of all, try not to panic. Do you know what his readings were before he started? They may actually be improved. Also...the total cholesterol reading is not nearly as important as the breakdown of the numbers; HDL, LDL and triglycerides along with the ratios of one to another. Cutting bacon and sausage may not be a bad idea (those nitrates aren't good for you anyway), but eating eggs and meat are fine. If we don't take in dietary cholesterol, our liver makes it's own and it's usually the bad LDL kind when it does. The vast majority of the cholesterol in our bodies is made by our own bodies! It's now been shown that eggs do not raise your cholesterol like it was once thought. There are several other good threads here regarding cholesterol and understanding it's numbers as well as debunking some of the cholesterol hysteria that has become so prevalent in our society. Read through a couple of them..it might help with some of your fears.
