Unfortunately, the effect of eliminating the sweet taste sensation only happens when you chew the fresh leaves of the plant, not from taking capsules of the powdered herb

There is good evidence that chromium supplements and L-glutamine are helpful for eliminating cravings. Dr Atkins discusses these and other supplements in his New Diet Revolution books. There are chapters on supplements in Protein Power, Protein Power Lifeplan, Carbohydrate Addicts and most of the other published program books.

I see in your profile that you haven't settled on a program yet. It would be worth investigating the different plans out there .. your library likely has copies of the popular books which you could borrow, so no need to buy anything As well, if you look in the Quick Links column to the right of the page, you'll see "Which low-carb plan is right for me?". There you'll find member reviews of quite a few of the popular programs with basic info about the plan, sample menus etc. which might give you some ideas.

It's worth noting that low carbing in itself can be very helpful in eliminating sweet cravings. Ketosis is very effective, and once you've eliminated carbs and the by-products from your system, you'll feel much better and cravings lessened on their own. If you stop "feeding" the addiction, it will eventually "starve"
