Insulin Resistance Diet
My daughter has insulin resistance and I was just diagnosed with diabetes. She and I are both ovo-lacto vegetarians. I started the Insulin Resistant Diet 5 weeks ago. It's a lower carb program, not quite as extreme as Atkins. You eat balance your carbs and proteins and only eat a little every 3 or 4 hours. Lots of veggies, etc. I've lost 15 pounds in that 5 weeks as a vegetarian and it has not been too difficult using the soy protein substitutes. I also have eaten beans, nuts, cheese (low fat) and eggs during that time for protein. On this diet one serving of fat free, sugar free ice cream is considere a protein source. My kind of program!! Any way just wanted you to know about the program, it is really working for me and allowing me to continue my vegetarian belief.
