I agree that there are just too many conflicting counts of things out there. I made a decision pretty early in the piece to rely on the carb counts at www.dietclub.com.au and just wing it and see how I went. I've lost 8.5kg in 8 weeks on low carb (3 in the first week and then roughly 0.5 to 1kg each week since - before low-carb it took me 4 months to lose 5kg). I think the important thing is that I'm losing the weight so I'm pretty happy to reply on that site and take the risk that it might be off once in a while. It belongs to Allan Bouroushek, a respected dietitician who publishes the most widely-read and comprehensive Australian calorie counter. As much as we'd like to make this a science, in many ways it's not and the important thing is the results and how we feel while we're achieving them. Sometimes I remind myself that we're people, not machines, and nothing is absolutely predictable!!
