I really want to see this move forward. What I find scarier than the ghost authorship is the simple fact that the drug giants own the copyright to the research, so if it's unfavourable to their product (ie potentially dangerous for patients), they can simply say, "thanks for the paper" and toss it in the proverbial shredder.
