When I weighed 105 pounds, I thought I was enormous. And then, as I dieted myself up the scale, I felt the obvious loathing and shame for every 20-30 pound gain on the way up. But somewhere -- probably after I hit the dreaded 200 pound mark -- I stopped seeing the fat. Talk about denial.

The awful truth became apparent when I'd see a photo of myself. I could hardly believe it was me, that I was that fat.
