As said above, the diet is based on insulin release. Unfortunitly, for many people, artificial sweeteners cause an insulin release. So, while not getting any calories/carbs, you are flooding your body with excess insulin which turns you into a fat storing machine.
So if you want to eat sweeteners, do it only at meals. And if you don't lose weight, use them only in your reward meal.
