Actually, the orange thing isn't new. Oranges and orange juice have been linked to reduced risk of cancer for a while. That being said, so have several other things, so it's not as if oranges are the ONLY things that reduce the risk of cancer!

I have never heard about bananas having any cancer risk reducing benefits. Of course, that doesn't mean it's not the case Sounds interesting.

I don't think there is any danger in notifying the public of this sort of thing if it's true. I don't see any harm in encouraging people to have their children eat healthy fruits. My kids eat a lot of low carb dishes because I do, but I also make sure they get plenty of fruits and veggies in their diets, even the ones I don't eat. I don't give them sugary store bought juice - but I have made fresh squeezed orange juice for them.
