The best place to start is to buy the book, Neanderthin by Ray Audette, which is only $7 paperback (check Amazon and ebay for even cheaper). It's an interesting and easy read and explains the concepts and the way of eating. You can also check out the neanderthin.com website. The general idea is to eat the way our ancestors did as hunter-gatherers before the advent of agriculture.
You're obviously interested not only in weight loss, but in health, as well. Look for the book, Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar & Survival by T.S. Wiley. I think you'll find it fun and fascinating, and it meshes well with this way of eating. I've never seen it in a bookstore--you'll probably have to go online, but again, not expensive.
As to why you aren't losing weight, could be a zillion reasons. You'd have to start by listing everything you're eating and maybe someone here could spot a problem.
