Try to do it from standing position, using a table or a chair. You can either lay your chest on the table or bend over the chair, putting your hands on it. Keep your left leg slightly bended, do not lock your knee. You can do the same right knee raises from this position. (It is an excellent hamstring stretch too.)

My husband had a right knee injury, so I have learned many way to modify exercises. Sometimes he feels pain even when he is on both knees.

Great job, and I agree, ditch scale, measure tape for two weeks .
