If you want to enjoy biking do not buy the junk they sell at wal-mart and other department stores. The quality of all of the parts and assembly of those "department store" bikes is inferior to that of the least expensive bicycle at a bicycle shop. With bikes the expression "you get what you pay for" is the truth. I suggest you visit a couple of bicycle shops and discuss your needs with them. They may have a much nicer used bike they can sell you at the same cost as the "department store bike". The other crucial thing that you will not get from wal-mart is proper fit which is another huge key to enjoying cycling.
