Default the role of carbs in formation of amino acids

Hi,
I have a question about the role of carbs in amino acid synthesis, I have read a medical textbook on the fate of carbohydrates in the body, one of the fates is to help in the production of amino acids in the body, is this compromised by low carb consumption, or does the conversion of fat into energy fulfill this role in place of carbs? The reason I ask is I weightlift and I'm curious if this lack of carb-amino synthesis will affect the building of muscle. Hopefully that all makes some sense. Thanks.!
