Default question about carbolite

hi all. i have a question.
on the package of the carbolite 1 oz candybars, it states on the back that "excessive consumption may cause a laxative effect." what's up with that?
the ingredients for the chocolate almond bars are: maltitol, cocoa butter, roasted almonds, chocolate liquor, sodium caseinate, milk fat, soya lecithin, vanillin, natural flavor, salt, sucralose (splenda brand).
what's causing the laxative effect, that slowly but surely is not from EXCESSIVE use, and could this also be the reason i'm not losing. i only eat one everyother day or so, so it's not a huge part of my caloric intake. here's the nutritional facts if it helps: serv. size (7g) 1 piece, serving per bar: 4 cal: 42, fat: 3g, carb: **0.37 protein: 1.2
** net effective carbohydrate count. maltitol, a low digestible carb has been omitted from the total carb content as it can only convert to a negligible amount of glucose in the body. the amount of maltitol accounts for approx. 26% of the caloric value of the bar.
thank you, you science brainiacs that i so depend on.
Brenda
