You can't be too anything at that age. Too fat, too skinny, too tall, too short. Anyone different gets teased. Such is the reality of being an adolescent.

I've always been tall, but back then, I really stood out in the crowd, pardon the pun. I was taller than all the girls, all the boys and most of the teachers. Kids tried to pick on me with comments like "how's the weather up there" and calling me "green giant". When told I was too tall, I used to take on a totally serious and utterly convinced look and say "I'm not tall, it's you that's short". Strange as that might seem, more than a few kids turned away wondering if they were really too short. Such is the power of self-doubt at that age.

It's just not a good age to be at. If I had a daugther, I'd tell that, difficult as it is to be a teen, it will eventually pass and men will eventually admire you for your unique qualities instead of ignoring you because you aren't a Britney clone.
