I hear what you are saying about being skeptical- me too- but it works. In CAD the Hellers emphasize the importance of keeping the carbs to the RM once a day. Want icecream- take it home and have it with the RM. Someone brings cake to work- cut a peice and take it home to have with your RM. You are giving yourself a decision point, and taking away the impulsive aspect. You do have permission- and a choice.
