if you are measuring yourself (not having someone do it for you) ABSOLUTELY measure in a mirror - and read the tape in the mirror - squirming to see it or trying to hold a finger while you unwrap the tape is too prone to problems - just read it off the mirror - just make sure what 2 numbers you are between in backwards land.
