The "experts" who were suggesting that a few minutes of exercise a day (or 20 minutes three times a week) was enough admitted recently that they said that so as not to discourage people from exercising.

That strikes me as the same kind of oversimplification that encouraged people to go on low fat, high carb (read, high glycemic carb) diets. The food pyramid was developed to simplify eating recommendations for the general population, and look at the results of that one.

Sure, walking up a flight of stairs is better than taking the elevator, but it's not enough of a workout for able people who are trying to get healthy and/or lose weight.

I'm glad this article was honest enough to say that there's no quick or easy way to get fit--you have to work at it.
