Well, fighting childhood obesity is a good idea, of course, but somehow I don't think getting rid of soda and vending machines will help much.

Instead of soda, vending machines at schools here in CA sell flavored lowfat milk, which actually has more calories and sugar than regular soda. And outside of the vending machines the schools around here sell (in the cafeteria at the lunch counters) cup noodles, chips, gummy candy, plate-size cookies, and candy bars, to name a few popular junk food items.

Sigh. I just cringe when I see the junk my sister and her peers get at school.
