You guys never had a "REAL" Gyro before than. In Greece and Turkey they do NOT grind the meat and press that crap together. They have a Rack of Lamb on a Rotissery and cut the lamb in Chuncks right of the bone. That is some good eating. That is a Real Gyro. Not no Imitation stuff. Yuck
I had that Imitation stuff once and almost threw up it was so nasty. Once you have the real thing you will never go to the Imitation stuff again.
