Ok, which is it??? First she says these studies are not long term. Then she says if they stay on the low-carb diets, their cholesterol goes back up. How would she know this, since the studies are supposedly not long term??? And even if their cholesterol does go up, many of us have personally experienced our own cholesterol going up, but only because our HDL has gone up, which is a very good thing.
I heard about this (or a similar study) a couple of weeks ago, and what they said was that it didn't have anything to do with how long people were on the diet but how close to normal weight they got. At the beginning of the diet, their cholesterol dropped, but once they got close to normal weight, it went back up to the same or a higher level than before the diet. Maybe that's what she meant.
