Interesting question.
I did a google search... and most sites said you should eat within an hour of working out, and that it should have lots of carbs to replenish your energy supply.
This Article was the first one that actually sited a study, but mostly was interested in recovery times, not the long term effects on muscle mass. It did say that the body will absorb nutrients faster in the 45-1hr period folling a workout.
