Yes, it's normal to get hurt when others reference your weight. Before I started Atkins, a family friend calmly mentioned in the context of a group conversation "you look like you've put on some weight" . What was I going to do? Yes, I had put on weight but did he need to be so blunt about it? I guess that's life. I just try and use these comments as motivation when I'm working out or resisting temptation from sugary foods. People can be unintentionally cruel- I see no point giving them ammunition.
