I had a cheesecake slice the other day where they put caramel sauce and pine nuts on. It wasn't to bad at all.
I like the cheesecakes where you use sweetened sour cream as a top layer and it kind of forms it's own topping. Too much fruit or sauces just detract from the taste of the cheesecake and can over power it.
Maybe insteadof a topping, serve a nice white wine along side. I find it really enhances the taste of the cheesecake.
