I think it is nice to know that, even if everything we know about this diet were to be overturned somehow (fat chance of that, pun intended), we would still have meds available to clean out our arteries. This weakens the "bad long-term effects" rhetoric so often used against us because at least one of the touted bad long-term effects would be quickly reversible with these treatments.
