If your friend is eating adequate protein and very little carbs, how is it logically possible that your friends blood sugar is elevated? The body cannot and will not synthesize protein into glucose fast enough to raise blood sugar to abnormal levels. The only explanation I can think of is that she either ate when she wasn't supposed to eat, or the test was bogus.

I would request a retest, and make sure she follows the doctors instructions to the letter.
